Why supplement with collagen if it already naturally occurs in the body?

Over time, the ideal levels of collagen our bodies naturally produce begin to wane. Collagen fibers break down or no longer regenerate, and lead to a “deflation” effect on the surface of the skin.

The diminishing effects of reduced collagen Type 2 are less obvious and often go unnoticed or are considered “normal” for the ageing process.

Research indicates that by the age of 40, the body’s ability to produce collagen decreases by 25%. By age 60, it has decreased by over 50%.*

Despite being made up of non-essential amino acids, the supply of ideal levels of naturally occurring collagen cannot meet the demand.

Though it is possible to obtain extra collagen through diet (consuming animal products such as gelatinous meats, the cartilage on bones such as chicken drumsticks, and skin from poultry, some may find it unappealing or difficult to eat enough to support their body’s requirements.

Collagen levels deplete naturally over time and there is no way to prevent this intrinsic ageing. However, by taking precautionary measures, and proper supplementation, it is possible to reduce extrinsic ageing and protect collagen, keeping the skin, bones, muscles and joints healthy for longer.

Description

I specially formulated my Multi Collagen Protein Capsules to deliver three sources of collagen to:

  • support overall digestive health.
  • support healthy mobility and flexibility.
  • support healthy muscles.
  • support healthy bones and joints plus joint comfort.
  • support vibrant, healthy skin.
  • support a healthy weight, while keeping hunger in check.
  • promote healthy, restful sleep.
  • support healthy cognitive function.

The simple fact is that most people aren’t getting enough collagen from their diet alone. Supplementing with my Multi Collagen Capsules is one way to close the “collagen gap” in your diet.

Collagen Type 1

Collagen Type 1 is found throughout the body except in cartilaginous tissues, making it the most abundant form collagen of the human body. As Type 1 collagen is responsible for healthy skin and bones it is by far the most abundant type of collagen in the body – making up over 90%. Typically type 1 collagen is used to support healthy, youthful skin.

Collagen Type 2

Type 2 collagen is the main component of cartilage. This type of collagen is important in helping to maintain healthy, pain free joints.

Collagen Type 3

Type 3 collagen is the second most abundant collagen in the body. It is closely related to collagen type I in terms of location and manner of synthesis. It is primarily located in the intestinal walls, muscles, and blood vessels, although it can also be found with collagen type I. Collagen type I and type III can be mixed together to create supplements for the skin, bone, and muscles.

Top 8 Collagen Benefits

If you’re still not convinced that collagen should play a bigger role in your lifestyle, check out these seven benefits.

 1. Skin and Hair

As we age, collagen production declines — it’s happening as you read this! You’ll see notice it physically: looser skin, more wrinkles and less elasticity. Increasing collagen levels can help your skin look firmer, increase smoothness, and help your skin cells keep renewing and repairing normally.

2. Joints

Have you ever felt like you’ve got skeleton legs? Yup, that’s a loss of collagen rearing its head. That’s because when we lose collagen, our tendons and ligaments start moving with less ease, leading to stiffness, swollen joints and more.

Think of ingesting more collagen like greasing a creaky door hinge: It’ll help your joints move more easily, reduce joint pain and even reduce the risk of joint deterioration. A recent study even found that collagen is an effective treatment for treating osteoarthritis and other joint disorders.

3. Leaky Gut

If you suffer from leaky gut syndrome, a condition where bad-for-you toxins are able to pass through your digestive tract, collagen can be super-helpful. It’ll help break down proteins and soothe your gut’s lining, healing damaged cell walls and infusing it with healing amino acids. It will also help absorb water, keeping things moving freely in the digestive tract.

4. Boosts Metabolism & Energy

A boost in collagen can increase your metabolism. Gylcine, found in collagen, helps pump sugar into your body’s tissue to increase energy levels. It also helps in muscle development — and muscles burn more calories than fat. Combine any supplementation with vitamin C to ensure your body can convert the collagen into a useable protein that can begin to restore the source or your energy and vitality.

5. Strengthens Nails & Teeth

Ever had peeling and splitting nails? Well, a lack of collagen could be to blame. Collagen protein is also the building block of your fingernails and teeth as well! Adding collagen into your diet regimen can help keep your nails strong and your teeth healthy!

6. Detox

If you’re looking to detox, collagen is extremely helpful. That’s because glycine helps minimize damage your liver experiences when it absorbs foreign substances that shouldn’t be passing through it.

One of the easiest ways to cleanse your liver is with a bone broth fast; I often recommend a three-day bone broth detox to rapidly repair leaky gut. It’ll help rid your body of chemicals and “reset” your gut.

7. Reduce Cellulite/Stress Marks

When skin loses its elasticity as a result of decreased collagen, there’s another side effect: more visible cellulite! Because your skin is now thinner, cellulite becomes more evident — no more hiding what’s happening below the surface. Improving your skin’s elasticity through collagen will help reduce that dimpling on your skin.

8. Promotes Deeper, More Restful Sleep

The amino acid glycine can also support more restful sleep.

Restful sleep is a big deal, too.

You may have heard the phrase, “You snooze, you lose.” Actually, it is more like: “You snooze, you win!”

You need to get regular, quality, restful sleep, but most British come up short on getting enough Zzzzzzzs. In fact, the UK Center for Disease Control and Prevention says that insufficient sleep is a public health epidemic, since our modern-day British society has resulted in people sleeping less and less.

In the 1960s, the average time Brits spent sleeping was between seven and eight-and-a-half hours per night; today, however, 50 percent of all Britain population averages under seven hours. Plus, one out of three Brits say they get a good night’s sleep only a few nights (or less) a month.

But sleep is essential because we require enough quality, restful sleep for physical and mental well-being. Why? During sleep is when the body restores itself through muscle growth, tissue repair, protein synthesis, growth hormone release and more.

The benefits of taking Collagen supplements goes on and on and we would advise that anyone over the age of 25 should supplement with “Multi Collagen” for overall benefit.
