My Personal Journey
I come from a lineage deeply rooted in education and medical research. In the 1950s, my grandfather with his friends founded the Cancer Research Institute in Chennai, India — a pioneering move that sparked my family’s long-standing commitment to health and healing.
Later, in 1976, my father together with friends established one of India’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturing companies. Growing up surrounded by these innovators, the drive to understand true wellness has always been in my blood.
I earned my MD from DGSOM (UCLA) in 1989 and completed my residency in New York. Yet, by 1993, I found myself questioning the very foundation of mainstream medicine. While my classmates and colleagues saw a steady path ahead, I couldn’t ignore a pressing truth: I had been trained to manage symptoms, not identify their root causes. When patients came to me with high blood pressure, I knew how to lower it with medication—but not how to prevent or reverse the underlying issue. The pills often led to new complications, setting off a cycle of treating one symptom after another without ever achieving genuine healing.
All through my training, I had only learned to manage symptoms rather than uncover their deeper causes. Conventional (allopathic) medicine often provides rapid relief, but typically focuses on managing symptoms rather than addressing their root cause. In contrast, natural medicine may require more time before noticeable relief sets in—but when it does, it’s because true healing has taken place, not just a temporary easing of discomfort.
This realisation weighed heavily on me. I wasn’t curing anyone; I was merely controlling problems as they arose. This realisation led me to step away from mainstream medicine and embark on a journey towards ancient healing practices.
I studied how animals instinctively choose certain leaves, roots, or fruits to restore their health. I immersed myself in the wisdom of ancient texts that championed natural remedies to truly heal the human body.
For over 20 years now, I’ve dedicated myself to natural and holistic medicine. Under The Longevity Lab with Dr. MB, my mission is to share these time-honoured healing principles with the world. I’ve helped thousands achieve better health, genuine relief, and a sense of well-being—restoring vitality naturally and sustainably.
I’m not against mainstream medicine; it has its rightful place in emergencies and critical care. However, in most cases, natural, integrative approaches can lead to profound, lasting wellness. In the past few years, my focus has expanded to longevity. Thanks to modern research and the careful application of natural compounds, we can now extend our health span—living longer, more energetic lives rooted in nature’s own pharmacy.
This is my journey: from a young doctor who questioned the status quo to a healer committed to helping others find true vitality—naturally, sustainably, and holistically.
